The election itself went along relatively fast during the early parts with most of the executive members being elected unopposed. The post of President, Vice President, Second Vice President, Treasurer, Administrative Secretary, Recording Secretary and Auditors all going to the initially nominated persons.
The post of Public Relations Officer was contested between Cheryl Alleyne, Martin Thorpe and Kevin Manning. Martin Thorpe won out in the end with 17 votes, versus Cheryls' 15 and Kevin's 8.
The dual post of Floor Member as usual was also hotly contested. The contenders were Nicole Kennedy, Cheryl Alleyne, David Beckles, Andre Murrell and Margaret Lorde. When the dust settled, it was David Beckles and Andre Murrell that were left standing.
In addition to being the first year with so many under 40 members in the Executive, it is also the first time four persons will be serving on the Shadow Executive all at once. Nicole Kennedy, Kevin Manning, Cheryl Alleyne and Margaret Lorde have all consented to serve on the Shadow Executive for the year 2006-2007.
