SPRINGER MEMORIAL are in the finals of both the Barbados Secondary Schools' Netball League Under-13 and Under-15 Competitions which will be played on Thursday evening at the Netball Stadium.

Springer Memorial will play Queen's College in the Under-13 final at 3:30 p.m. and will then take on Foundation in the Under-15 final at 4 p.m. The third-place play-offs for both groups will be held at 3:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. respectively.

Ten goals In the Under-13 semi-finals last Thursday, Springer Memorial defeated The Lodge School 13-9, with Sade Mariah Greenidge netting ten goals from 15 attempts and Adrienne Griffith three from five. Shakelle Clarke scored five goals from eight attempts and Tonya Beckles four from 12 for The Lodge.

Queen's College had a 8-5 victory over Deighton Griffith in the other game, with Alyssa Smith scoring seven goals, but she will have to increase her accuracy in the final. Danielle Gaskin scored four from 12 and Thania Puckerin scored only one from four for Deighton Griffith.

Springer Memorial rushed to a 9-1 lead in the first quarter of their 25-16 Under-15 victory over Ellerslie. Shameka Clarke scored 13 goals from 15 attempts and Shanise Jarvis 12 from 18. Springer's defence limited Ellerslie's attempts and Chamayne Alleyne had six from ten and Pilar Mapp ten from 16.

Foundation School had a commanding 37-24 victory over Garrison Secondary in the other Under-15 game. 

Under-16 player Damesha Croney led Foundation with 18 goals from 26 attempts; Rieah Holder had 12 from 16 and Crystal Codrington ten from 16.

Shannon Hackett was a very accurate 19 from 21 for Garrison and Chantal Husbands five from ten. The First Form Competition will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday morning at the Netball Stadium.

COLERIDGE AND PARRY (CP) are eyeing the coveted double after both their girls and boys teams reached the finals of SuperCentre Under-15 Volleyball Competition.

Playing in the semi-finals at the Netball Stadium on Wednesday, the CP lads, who are defending champions, were taken to three sets against Grantley Adams but prevailed 25-16, 14-25, 15-7. Their opponents in the final will be Combermere, who got past arch rivals Lodge School in straight sets 25-17, 25-13.

In the girls' semi-finals, CP held off Lodge 25-18, 25-18 and will face Springer Memorial, who defeated Foundation 25-10, 25-18.

The finals are slated for Monday at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium from 3 p.m.


DEFENDING UNDER-13 CHAMPIONS Garrison Secondary have been eliminated at the quarter-final stage, but Under-15 champions Springer Memorial are through to today's semi-finals which get under way at 3:15 p.m. at the Netball Stadium.

Garrison were beaten by Deighton Griffith 15-19, largely on the shooting of Thania Puckerin, the daughter of former Barbados basketball captain Andrea Puckerin. She scored 13 goals from 27 attempts and was supported by Alliesha Burnett. Shannon Hackett scored eight of Garrison's goals.

Deighton Griffith will play Queen's College who beat Foundation School 11-4. Springer Memorial are in the other semi-final against The Lodge School who beat Combermere 10-6.

Springer Memorial, the Under-15 champions, beat Queen's College 27-6 in a lopsided affair. Shamika Clarke scored ten goals from 12 attempts, Shanise Jarvis 11 from 14 and Aka Howell six from eight. Alyssa Smith scored five goals for Queen's College and Melanie Giddins one.

They will play Ellerslie who took out St Lucy 17-14.

The other semi-final will feature Garrison Secondary and Foundation. Garrison beat Alexandra 21-13 and Foundation beat Deighton Griffith 25-13. (SAT)
